Coming off of last week’s post about enjoying winter, I must admit I feel like a bit of a fraud by suggesting that skating on a frozen pond would be a good remedy for the winter hater…but in reality, I’ve never been on a frozen pond to skate myself…until now!
Last Saturday a bunch of us went out to breakfast at Pat’s Peak and then up to Hanover, NH to ice skate on Occom Pond. Anytime I’ve been skating before it has always been at a man-made rink. As a southern California girl, I was a little bit terrified that there would be a Little Women moment when someone would fall through the ice and nearly drown…but after stepping out onto the pond I realized there was absolutely nothing to worry about, even with the 40+ degree temps that day. We had fun twirling, falling, and playing whip.
I haven’t really skated since I took lessons as a kid, and I forgot just how much I enjoyed it! I already want to go back to Occom Pond, and I am devising a plan to try and skate more regularly.
It was such a fabulous day! Do you have a favorite ice skating spot?
