I must admit, I was very nervous to do this post. Knowing that I am not an expert on fitness, I wasn’t sure if talking about my workout routine was a good idea. But in the end, I’ve decided that posting this might, at least, be a bit encouraging to others out there.
I use the term “fitness routine” loosely. I do yoga every day, if I can, because my back, which I injured while snowboarding is always stiff, along with my neck and shoulders, when I wake up, so being able to start the day stretching and relaxing feels wonderful.
My other “routine” excercise is running. I’ve been at it for a couple months now, and have successfully run a full mile a few times. This may sound a bit weak, but I knew that if I didn’t build myself up very slowly, I would hate it (all my other running attempts I pushed myself too hard too fast, and quickly gave up). I’m proud of myself for sticking with it, albeit I get in a couple runs a week, but I have noticed a big difference already!
My mental health has to be the biggest area that improves when I run. When I first started up my blog, things weren’t going well, deadlines were flying by, my whole life felt like a failure. I went through that stress for about three weeks, and one of those weeks I was pretty good about running. After some reflection, I realized the week I was the least stressed was the week I ran. That is a definite reason I am keeping at it, because I saw how quickly the changes happened, and how much better I felt.
Also, right around the time I started to run, I discovered Sudio Sweden. Maybe I am behind the times, but this was the first time I had heard of wireless earbuds (headphones, yes, earbuds, no). I got the Vasa Blå earbuds in rose gold to match my iPhone. I’m in love with them, and they are working out really great for my runs! I tend to listen to techno or global tunes that I feel make me want to push when the running gets hard. (FYI, if you are thinking about starting to run, I found that pushing myself in that last little stretch pays off, because you wouldn’t think it, but it actually gets easier!)
Also, you can get 15% off product at Sudio Sweden with the code: northeasternnautical . Enjoy!
Do you guys have a favorite workout routine, or any tips? I’d love to hear them!
Thanks Sudio Sweden for the collab!
