One of the great country pastimes of this world is the local County Fair. Games, sheep, rides, food, produce competitions, families everywhere enjoying the fun, music, kettle corn, cider doughnuts! What more could you want from an afternoon?

There is a great little county fair that happens close to where I live every September, and I love the size and feel of it! It’s snuggled in amidst the pine trees, and there are only a handful of rides, one barn full of animals, and after 4 o’clock on a Saturday it is pretty peaceful! Not to mention it has both cider AND maple doughnut vendors, and maple popcorn to boot!
My mom and I spent a few hours there this past weekend. We started with some maple roasted pecans, and a maple doughnut while watching the riding/shooting competition in the arena. Afterward we wandered through the livestock barn and got to pet the adorable woolly sheep, and see the goats, bunnies, and cows. We made sure to check out the produce competition, where prizes we awarded to the biggest and best veggies in the county. I loved seeing mums and pumpkins everywhere, it made me feel as though Fall is finally here! The day was finished by a delicious quesadilla with guac and salsa for dinner. I am quite the county fair fan now, and I can’t wait for next year’s!
