The great sale is here! If you are like most people, shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale every year can be a tad(huge) bit overwhelming. You want everything, you love it all…it’s easy to get carried away. But don’t! In order to properly shop any good sale, make sure you put some guidelines in place for yourself. Without a bit of order, chaos will inevitably ensue.
I’ll let you in on a few of the rules I have given myself for this year’s sale:
Timing/Season/Weather: It’s the middle of summer, the sun is shining, the temps are hot, the beach is calling, and so are short sleeves, sundresses, and sandals…but stay away! No doubt we have all been buying our summer clothes since the beginning of spring, and when fall(yes, I said fall) hits, we might just be a little unprepared cash-wise because we were enjoying the moment too much during the warmer months. If you want to invest in some nice cashmere sweaters, leather boots, and a few good coats, the sale is the perfect time to get them at a good deal…they will definitely be full price when you need them the most! Most brands are already coming out with their pre-fall and fall merchandise, so swoop in!
(Side note: As much as I love fall, clothes, fashion, etc. I am not the person who likes to start their autumn in July. I know some of my friends are of the mind that the 4th of July signals the end of summer, but I totally disagree! I think summer ends right after Labor Day…that is when Fall officially starts for me. However, I usually find myself woefully unprepared in the clothing department when September rolls around, so get going early!)
Evaluate What You Need: Are your coats from previous seasons wearing out? You probably need new boots or socks. The only thing missing from your Fall closet is a tweed skirt? You need fresh sweaters? Pop your head in your closet and make sure you are buying things for need, and not just for fun…
Christmas Gifts?: Okay, okay, I admit I’m really jumping ahead even too fast for myself, but seriously, isn’t it always the best feeling when you have your Christmas shopping done by September/October, and then don’t have to stress come the Holidays?
Keeping all those guidelines in mind, here are, by catagory, my top Nordstrom picks!
– Coats –
Anyone who knows me, knows that I have a coat problem. I don’t know how to not buy more coats every season, and I have a hard time getting rid of my old ones. Very soon I will be needing to do a thorough clean-out of my coat closet, especially if I buy some of these beauties! I love all of these options I found in the sale! Check out the Madison 1 coat with the fur trim…I’m pretty sure the Duchess of Cambridge wore almost the exact same thing to the Christmas service last December.
– Dresses –
– Sweaters –
Sweaters are another obsession of mine. I am in love with all things cable-knit, fair isle, and cashmere!
– Shoes –
Enjoy the sale, guys, and don’t forget to make smart purchasing choices!
